Miljevic looks to Make the Best of Final Season → ramblinwreck.com

Matt Winkeljohn

When he takes the court today at No. 20 North Carolina, the Dusan Miljevic will hardly be the same guy who arrived at Georgia Tech nearly four years ago from Serbia. Shoot, it might not be the same fella that began the season using his name.

Something’s happened to Miljevic, who has won three straight matches since moving up to No. 3 singles for the Yellow Jackets.

That he’s grown up shouldn’t come as a surprise; that’s much of what college is all about. Yet for his maturity away from the game to carry into it … that’s not always predictable.

Tech's Cross sheds weight → ajc.com

By Ken Sugiura
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

On Georgia Tech’s second day of spring practice, defensive end Izaan Cross weighed a trim 284 pounds, thanks to the Firehouse diet.

The only returning starter on the defensive line, Cross dropped 21 pounds from the end of the season. He mainly did it through portion control and additional exercise during winter workouts. Where does the diet get its name?

“All the guys who have a weekly (weight) goal, we weigh in every Wednesday,” he said. After the weigh-in, “we go celebrate at Firehouse (Subs). That’s the Firehouse diet.”

"That's What Family Does" → ramblinwreck.com

It’s doubtful that any of the current players on the Georgia Tech Softball Team remember Amy Hosier, the slugging outfielder, who was an instrumental part of the team from 2003 through 2006.

That’s understandable as Hosier, 28, relates better to the coaching staff — Head Coach Sharon Perkins was Assistant Coach and Associate Head Coach at Georgia during Hosier’s Tech career, pitching coach Shaina Ervin was an opponent, pitching for NC State, and Assistant Coach Aileen Morales was her teammate as a freshman and a sophomore during Hosier’s final two seasons.

The ‘12 Jackets and Hosier know each other a lot better now.

Where There's A Will, There's A Way → ramblinwreck.com

Sting Daily

Labor Day is more than five months away, but it stands already as a whale of an incentive for Will Jackson and his teammates.

Georgia Tech opened spring practice Monday, and although the first few sessions will include modest contact as the Yellow Jackets won’t move into full pads right away, Jackson said the reality of opening the season at Virginia Tech at the end of summer has lent more juice to the beginning of spring.

“With all due respect to the Western Carolinas, the South Carolina States, the Jacksonville States, when Virginia Tech is the first game on your schedule, that kind of wakes you up a little bit,” said Jackson, one of four returning starters on an offensive line that has the potential to be the best that head coach Paul Johnson’s had at Tech.
